For my
poster I had listened to feedback and changed the colours to look more like a
reggae poster and easier for people to identify at first glance. I have also put in the dancers to go with the
slogan since dancing takes rhythm and coordination. The colours of the dancers
could have been changed though. The slogan is in white to make it stand out and
has a drop shadow to make it more appealing to people.
The lion has
been altered with its colour and has had a drop shadow added to make it look
different room the original picture and to add some of my own work to the poster.
I have used tools such as text boxes and transformations. The choice of colours
were chosen by messing around with hex codes.
Both of the
images have been transformed. The lion was transformed to fit the poster to
scale and the dancers where transformed to fit the lion a fill in the empty
space at the back. The poster has been saved as a JPEG separately from the Photoshop
file and has been uploaded on to my blogger. With the poster being a JPEG this
means it has a lossy compression.
Above is a
more briefly annotated version of the JPEG made on thinglink. This version
shows where I have applied the different tools and effects I have used.
The warm colours on the poster are give poster that reggae feel. The slogan feel the rhythm is used for the audience to know that this poster is related to music. The dancers are also used to match the slogan to show the audience that the poster is about reggae music.
However i feel like the poster would be better if i focused on a certain style of reggae or should have list a few of the different reggae styles to make it easier for the audience to understand what the poster is about.
As it shows on the annotated poster i have used the gradient tool to put a range of different colours to make up the background while giving it that warm you would feel when listening to reggae music.
I wanted to create a colourful and eye catching poster that strayed away from having Bob Marley as the main element. I also used the drop shadow effect on the slogan i wrote to make sure that people look at the poster as a whole and not only focus on the bright colours.
The way i made the poster the number one thing that people would be attracted to first is the lion. from that there next focus may be the colours and finally the slogan. i fit the lion to scale making it big enough without having it go off the page. the same thing was done for the dancers inside the lion.
The original image of the lion had a white ear and eye due to its background i felt like this would not go well with how i wanted my poster to look. I decided to erase the eye, ear and any white space around the lion that i could not make transparent.

ReplyDelete2B.P5 (Pass) You have created appropriate graphics for a digital media product that adequately communicate the intended message of a Reggae Poster Competition brief.
ReplyDeleteGood Ricardo - you have highlighted how you have used technical elements to create your desktop graphics.
To improve:
You need to explain how you have designed your poster/website and used tools to design technical elements specifically to communicate your message – which is what? See brief.
How does the audience know that this website/poster’s purpose has been designed to celebrate reggae music.
