Proposal
Target audience: Young people who have an interest
gaming or enjoy playing video games.
Purpose: The purpose of these two articles is
to inform/entertain young people on what it is like to play video games. I will
also mention the types of gamers in east London. This could help inform those
who just want to have fun playing games to not get involved with people who
want to ruin that.
Platforms: the two platforms I considered using
was a double page spread and an e-magazine. However I also think that my second
article could also be good if it was published on social media. The double page
spread would be published for a week. While the social media article would stay
published and would be searchable for people to view if it was published
Facebook for example.
Location: gaming shop, college setting that
could be used for interviews.
Images: online store, console, controller,
dashboard, in game content, shop
Resources/equipment: console, games, phone for taking
Images, InDesign, TV, controller and console accessories.
Cost: no payments are needed for the shots
planned for the articles. However there will be a cost for publishing it on the
two platforms chosen for the article. For interviews I have sources that are
willing to be interviewed for free.
Logistics: I can use facts such as mentioning
the bestselling games and the statistics of the rising number of gamers over
the years.
Timeframe: the production will take at least 2
weeks to get all the images and writing together and have it laid out and
published.
Summary: The first article will go into
gaming and how games attract young people in east London. This will list
several different genre of games and the impact the make on young people. This
will include some big titles in the gaming industry. I will go through certain
genres and some of the big titles within those genres of gaming. This article
will be published on a double page spread.
The second
article will focus on the types of gamers, their attitudes and what types of
games you could mostly find people like this. I would like to interview some
young gamers in east London and find out what gaming is like for them and how
they act. This article will be published on an e-magazine or on social media
for its readers.
Both of
these articles will use primary images that I would have taken of either
locations related to gaming, gaming consoles and even stuff that happens in
game. I plan to also take shots of gaming shops in east London and show the
range of games they sell to attract customers and influence more people to
game. The length of these articles will depend on what format they are
published on. If published on social media one of the articles will have
interactive elements such as images being interactive. The article will also be
clickable going to a new tab or page to view the whole article.
