Intro: Hello
my name is Ricardo and welcome to the podcast. Today’s topic is on the recent
attacks and fires happening in England. My guest for today is and Steven.
Steven:
thank you for having me.
Ricardo: so
you know of the recent attacks that have happened such as Manchester and London
Bridge. What are your thoughts on these attacks?
Steven: I
think it’s terrible to see something like this happening. So many people are
now scared to go certain places because of this.
Ricardo:
Many people have died because of this as well. People have lost their lives for
no reason at all. What do you think?
Steven: I
mean those people did not deserve to die especially when they had no part in
whatever those guys motives where. It’s just so upsetting that many people got
either killed or hurt for no reason.
Ricardo: I
know and speaking of motives what do you think the motives are of these guys?
Because personally I think it was to strike fear as always but sometimes it
might be something else.
Steven: I
don’t have a clue what their motives are or what they were thinking but it was
wrong.
Ricardo: I
agree. If you were in that situation like those people or oe of the families
who lost someone how would you feel?
Steven: I
believe if I was there and survived I would be frightened to even go to a
public area again. I might even say I would be frightened to go outside. If I
was a family member of someone there I would feel devastated to have lost
someone just because some people don’t care about hurting others.
Ricardo: yes
it is a tragic thing to think about not only with the bombs but with the van attack
and also all the recent fires that have been happening. I makes me feel
uncomfortable just living here.
Steven:
indeed a lot has been happening lately and it is hard to keep track of it all
especially for the government.
Ricardo:
well this is a podcast for young people so do you have any advice for them to
stay safe at times like this?
Steven: I
would say just be careful of where you are and watch your surroundings. Attacks
like this can happen area even if they commonly happen in public areas.
Outro: well
thank you for being here today. That is all we have for the podcast thank you
all for tuning in and hope you have a wonderful day. Goodbye.
Sound checks
Sound
checks
With the
recording process for the audio being inside I will need to find a nice small
place to record where the sound does not bounce around and stay at one point
and keeps it clear. With the microphone I will need to do a sound test and
check the peak level it can go at and test a few lines so that the volume does
not raise above that level and I can get the best quality out of the
microphone. This is also beneficial to make sure that the room used for recording
is suitable and would not mess with the audio.
Timing and Recording schedule
Timing
The maximum
duration of the recording can be 5 minutes. My aim is to at least have a 2
minute minimum for my recording. The timeframe will depend on the amount of
points made in the recording.
Recording schedule
I will be
recording audio for the podcast on the 22nd June 2017 between the
times of 9.00am – 11.30 am
Risk assessment
Risk assessment
When
recording in the sound booth I will need to be aware of any loose wires laying
around from the equipment. Also I have to be aware of other people around me
when using certain equipment. If recording in the TV studio then I will have to
be aware of my surroundings such as tables or chairs that could be in the way. We also
have to be aware of any equipment in these rooms such as stage lights so that
we do not trip over them.

Technical requirements for digital audio production
What is
sound?
Sound is
vibrations that travel through the air. Sound is represented in soundwaves and
is measured in the form of DBU which means decibels. Each sound is determined
by the acoustics (the properties of a room).Acoustics are the surfaces of a car
house room any area. There are acoustics everywhere you go. Each room has
different acoustics if a room has hard surfaces then any sound will reflect off
of those surfaces. You can notice sound reflecting off of the wall when you
hear a ping from a loud noise. When it comes to recording sound you want the
sound to be absorbed not reflected. An example of this is a recording studio
when artists go to record a soundtrack or song the go to a studio that has panels
around it. This studio is used to absorb the sound and break it up. Another place
that is good for acoustics is a closet or any other small room or space. Small
rooms do not give the vibrations a lot of time to reflect meaning that the
sound will stay dead and as it was recorded.
Reverberation
is how long it takes for the sound to die out. This means that any loud noise
that is made will rebound off of every wall in the area until the sound dies
out. An example is if you are up in the mountains or up high and shout the
sound will bounce and echo off of surfaces until it dies out. For exterior
acoustics such as wind noise there is counter measure for recording sound which
is called a wind cover. This wind cover is used for a microphone and helps keep
out exterior wind noises when recording. Mostly it is hard to get a good sound
when recording outside unless you are recording in a closed space.
Microphones
Dynamic
microphones are mostly seen in live performances. These microphones are rugged
there is no worry of breaking the microphone if you drop it. The purpose of
this microphone is for life performances. This microphone unlike the condenser
microphone is not as sensitive to sound giving people the ability to scream if
they need to. The dynamic microphone has a diaphragm which is a tiny piece of
plastic inside the microphone. Form this there is a coil which is attached to a
magnet. So sound hits the diaphragm. The diaphragm then moves the coil up and
down the magnet creating an electrical audio source that gets converted into
soundwaves that goes into the app it will be uploaded on such as mixer or sound
cloud.
Condenser
microphones are mostly seen in studios. These microphones are fragile if you
drop or break the microphone it’s done. These are also very expensive and cost
around £500. This microphones purpose is for studio recording sessions. This
microphone is very sensitive. The mechanics inside of this microphone will
break if it is exposed to loud noises such as screaming. The condenser
microphone has two plates where sound hits the front plate and send the current
around to the back plate. However condensers need power to work such as
batteries or phantom power. Phantom power is a small button on a mixer that
notifies the amount of volts given to the microphone. Once this is on it will
turn it into audio.
The types of
microphones you have are handheld and lavelier. A lavelier mic is a mic that
can be clipped onto a collar or is also known as a body mic. It is a very small
mic and is used for television. A handheld microphone is a common microphone
that is seen in news reports or even interviews. Another type of microphone is
the boundary microphone. This microphone is used for big speeches and is able
to pick up sound from every direction. It is a flat and discreet microphone.
Polar
patterns is the direction of where the mic is picking up so for a condenser
microphone you have the front, back and side. A condenser microphone you have 3
different patters a figure eight, a heart and a circle. This gives people the
opportunity to record straight in front of the microphone while blocking out
any sound from the back. This is called cardioid which is one pattern. There
are 3 cardioid, hyper cardioid and super cardioid. This just means the intensity
of the voice at the front of the microphone. The figure eight gets sound from
the front and the back while blocking out any sound from the sides. The circle is
also known as omnidirectional this picks up sound from all directions.
Cuffing the
microphone makes the sound muffled and stifles what the microphone can pick up.
This is known as the proximity effect (bass tip-up). This is a common thing for
rap music cause of the way they hold the microphone. The is also a small mount
that clips onto a microphone and can be screwed onto a microphone stand so that
the artist can sit down to sing or so the microphone can be held in place.
There are
different types of connectors/cables. There is the mono jack which has one ring
and a stereo jack which has two rings the jack of the cables are the ends. The
XLR cables are commonly used for plugging into any microphone. The XLR has two
ends female and male. Mini-jack cables are used to connect to portable devices
such as head phone jacks on iPods. Speak on cable are used to connect passive
speakers which are speakers that don’t have an amp inside.
Report
For a sound
editing app logic pro x is a good one to use. This app has tools such as
scissors that can cut down any music files you have imported into the app by
either dragging it in or importing it. This app also lets people change the
tone and pitch of the audio being able to change its preferences completely. This
software is good for editing your audio and adding effects such as if you
wanted it to
Dictaphone
is a stereo recording device that records voices of actors. Multi-track
recorders are recorders that record multiple sounds or instruments at a
performance at one time.
Do a sound
check before recording and make sure you set the recording level. Make sure the
sound bounces around 0 DBU this way if you are speaker raises their voice the
sound will not peak up to get distortion. Make sure to do a background noise
check and be aware of the environment for noises. The mics are really sensitive
and can even pick up a little noise of a computer humming. Use the clapperboard
to help sync the audio to the footage. There is a tiny little arrow on some
recorders that will show a good recording level for you to use as a guide. This
will help determine the speaking level

types of gamers adaptation 2 final
Types of gamers (adaptation 2)
This article is to help all the young gamers starting of
their career in online gaming by listing some of the many gamer types and the
personality traits that come with them. An example is that I am a gamer who
just like to play his games and have fun with his friends. I am generally nice
to people I meet. I sometimes get made but do not let it affect the people
around me.
With gaming there are many types of gamers who not only
influence themselves when playing a game but also influence others. This
article is for any young children who are just starting to game or who may plan
to in the future. There are some that have a bigger impact than others. One
type of gamer is one that they call the rager. This specific gamer is someone
who gets really angry when something does not go their way. They have been
known for shouting very loud and swearing as well as even throwing something
such as their controller. These types of gamers are commonly seen in
first-person shooters such as call of duty, halo and destiny. However that
doesn’t mean that you might not encounter another one on a different game
genre. I have had some bad experiences when gaming that has made me act like
some of these people and even take my anger out on others. So for all you young
little gamers try to play games that won’t turn you into this or at least try
to keep you temper.
Another type of gamer is one they call the troll. This is
a person who always likes to mess with people for their own amusement. They do
this in the way of tricking them and messing with them in the game. Some of
these people have even recorded trolling gamers who just want to play the game
and have uploaded the video to something such as YouTube or the console DVR to
share it with the world. These type of gamers can also go overboard and can
create a rager out of the people they are messing with. Stay away from these
types of gamers they will only ruin your experience also make sure to let other
young gamers know about these gamers and what to do if they meet one. A good
way to ignore these types of gamers is to block communications with them that
way you cannot hear them or get messages from them.
They next type of gamer I am mentioning is the
competitive player. These are gamers that take their gaming to the next level
and enter tournaments or championships that show their skill as a player to the
world and could have a grand prize at the end. There are competitive players
for first person shooters, fighting games, strategy games and more. A lot of
competitive players are now famous are known to be in a clan for a certain game
they compete in and nay even have sponsorships. These players are the best of
the best at the game and give it everything they got in their competition.
There can also be competitive players who just play the game and do not
participate in world tournaments or competitions they just play the game and
strive to be the best at it.
The next type of gamer is called the newbie this is a gamer
who has no clue about the game. They do not know what to do or have any skill
on how to play the game. This is how gamers start off when they first get a
console of a gaming computer. They are also known as novices or newcomers. Some
newcomers adapt to the game and find their style to play it quicker than
others. The harder the game the longer it may take to understand how to play it
properly it all depends on the gamer and if they can adjust quickly especially
if the change game genre. You will full into this category when you started
gaming online however do not let that drag you down you may be young but you
now have many helpful guides that you can find to help you advance quicker and
know what you are doing. If you find others like this help them out as well be
a role model to them and make the gaming community better.

This article is to help all the adult gamers by listing
some of the many gamer types and the personality traits that come with them. An
example is that I am a gamer who just like to play his games and have fun with
his friends. I am generally nice to people I meet. I sometimes get made but do
not let it affect the people around me. This
can help those adults buy teaching them what to do so that they do not
influence the children to take the wrong action when gaming online. This can
also help these adults become role models to younger gamers.

I strongly advice any adults who have a short temper to either get a stress
ball or stop playing these types of games and influencing younger people. I
also advised parents to watch the games they buy for their children.
Another type
of gamer is one they call the troll. This is a person who always likes to mess

something such as YouTube or the console DVR to share it with the world. These
type of gamers can also go overboard and can create a rager out of the people
they are messing with. If any adults who still play video games are doing this
to younger gamers I order them to stop not only are they ruining the experience
for those younger gamers but those adults can also have their accounts banned
or can even be called by the police if it goes too far. This is a serious
matter that ruins gaming for young people.

who plays a game competitively do not get distracted so much by playing the
game and being the best. This is not good for your life style if you are
working or have a family.
The next
